<< < (09/06) Birthday > >>

Dushica,

Happy birthday, my dear friend.

The idea of these artistic web experiments started after our conversation at the Zine Club on 09/05, so today is a doubly good day to celebrate you despite the distance. Although I like this format, I'm still unprepared for the intimate diary style over the internet. But it doesn't have to be that way. The intimate-on-the-web part, I mean. At least, I know how to start: "Dushica," and proceed. Considering this is live, I'll save the rest for when you're back.

As we approach summer, I've noticed how spring differs here from where I come from. With its constant rainfall, the UK has a way of making spring feel even briefer. I wonder if the flowers sense it, too: do they bloom stronger?

Here, I wanted to capture the fleeting essence of spring and its beauty with one of my favourite flowers: sakura. Although I've been loving the UK daisies, they do last longer. I've learned some new tricks inspired by my teenage Tumblr page and wanted to make this both fun and relevant to the occasion, so feel free to click on "Happy birthday" for some celebratory decorations and toggle with "sakura."
